XU7ACB (operator N6FF) was operating from the Sihanoukville resort area on the southern coast of Cambodia (see photo below DX Aid plot). I first heard him calling CQ around 1110 UTC and made a QSO at 1119 UTC. It was most interesting that his signal seemed best on my SE Beverage at times...in addition to the usual sunrise long path direction of SSW! Clearly his signal could not follow the 180 degree long path (white line) due to it being in total sunlight but was likely skewed by the transitional daylight area near the terminator. On this date, XU7ACB sunset is 1042 and W4ZV sunrise is 1215, giving 93 minutes of common darkness. The QSO was almost halfway between XU7ACB sunset and W4ZV sunrise which is quite typical for these paths. The auroral zones are plotted in light blue for interest...the geomagnetic field was fairly quiet (Boulder K = 2 at 1200 UTC) and should have had little skew influence on this path.
You can see the South China Sea in the background of this picture. I believe Dick is using a sloping dipole from the tower on the roof of this building.
