This opening was classic long path, which is the "normal" way to work stations directly over Magnetic North from North America (Bangkok is 359 degrees from here). HS72B's sunset today was 1050 UTC and my sunrise was 1213 UTC. I first began hearing him around 1114 coming via the usual long path heading to the SSW (205 degree Beverage). By 1130 the signal was strong enough that I began to call and he answered me at 1150. The QSO came at 60 minutes into common darkness or 72% between his sunset and my sunrise. This is much closer to my sunrise than the 48% average I've experienced on these paths |
